Coin of the week     Why are the Lindsey Scyphates cup shaped?  It was once thought that these rare gold quarters were votive coins, specially made to contain blood or other vital bodily fluids.  Someone else said they were used as nipple caps.  This one is remarkable because it is 100% complete (they're usually chipped) and in mint-state condition.  Chris Rudd July List                                                                  1.06.04
