Four years ago this type of gold
stater was utterly unknown. Then, on
19 August 2000, a scattered hoard
was discovered at Climping, West
Sussex. Sadly, the British Museum
obtained only eight specimens from
the hoard. It's unusual to see the
floral sceptre displayed so clearly.
