Judging from the distribution of his
universally elusive coins,
Dumnocoveros appears to have been a
chieftan of the northern part of the
Corieltauvi shortly before and
during the Claudian annexation of
southern Britain, say perhaps 30-45
AD. The person called Volisios on
the obverse was possibly the father
of Dumnocoveros, in the same way
that he was apparently the father of
Dumnovellaunos and Cartivellaunos.
The above silver unit of
Dumnocoveros is excessively rare -
there is but one in the British
Museum - and is in exceptionally
attractive condition, with a
