This very rare Celto-Thracian silver
tetradrachm, mid 3rd century BC, was
issued by Scostocos whose name may
be translated as 'pork buttock',
referring perhaps to the champion's
portion so keenly contested by
Celtic warriors, as related in old
Irish tales. Brilliant, mint-state
condition, one of the finest known. Chris
