This very unusual
looking gold quarter stater
- one of the most
distinctive in the ancient
British series - is known as
Finney's Thunderbolt, named
after the late Ian Finney
who had a superb example in
his famous collection (now
in Birmingham City Museum).
Only nine others are known
and this is one of the
finest - a splendid
specimen, crisply struck in
lustrous yellow gold and
unquestionably Extremely
Fine. It's also a pedigree
